Selamat Hari Raya~ I know that Raya is still in another week or two but the reason why I am so excited this Raya is all because of 1 Utama Shopping Centre! The Raya decor at 1 Utama Shopping Centre is finally up and it is by far one of the most realistic Raya decor that I have come across.
Jom jalan jalan cari makan at 1 Utama this coming Raya celebrations with the "Meriahnya Syawal", 1 Utama Raya events and activities which have already started on the 26th of June until the end of July 2015! Revolving around the FOOD theme this year, look forward to F&B highlights, exciting cooking demonstrations, shopping bargains and festive promotions, entertaining Aidilfitri dance and performances, weekend bazaar, fashion shows and buka puasa fare.
For those of you who will not be able to 'balik kampung' this year or maybe your 'kampung' is here in KL, no worries because you will not be missing out on the village excitement with 1 Utama Shopping Centre's Raya 'makan village' at LG Oval concourse. 1 Utama Shopping Centre has set up a charming penghulu house which is equipped with a fully functional kitchen fitted with nothing less than high grade appliances courtesy of Belling and Way.
1 Utama has definitely outdone themselves this year with the 'makan village' they set up especially that they even brought in real grass and plants to make the whole village feel more realistic. Browsing through the Raya decorations at LG Oval is a discovery on its own with the retro bicycles, Vespa scooters and vintage knick-knacks at every corner admist the bougainvillea and grassy pathways. Don't I look like I was really back in a village celebrating Raya? Bear in mind, all this is inside a mall!
There are also several retail merchandise kiosks selling Raya fare and you are welcome to sit at the wooden benches available around the concourse or laze at the wakafs and enjoy the traditional favourites sold.
Here at the penghulu house, live cooking demos will be demonstrated by top Malaysian culinary masters like Chef Jaafar (28 June, 3pm), Chef Zaidah (11 July, 5pm), Chef Sherson Lian (3 July 4pm & 12 July 3pm) and the host of "Diari Mangkuk Tingkat" Ili (5 July 3pm) who will be sharing their passion for food and flavours with the crowd! If you have missed the previous demonstrations make sure you don't miss out on Chef Zaidah on 11 July and another session by Chef Sherson Lian on 12 July!
Catch the adorable couple mascots for 1 Utama Raya celebration this year as well. Aren't they just so sweet!

For me I personally love the penghulu house which looked so realistic and the 'kawah' and lemang area at the side which really made me feel like I was back in the village. Of course the real sand and grass definitely upped the wow factor for the Raya decor at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
Of course with all the hardwork 1 Utama did for this festive season and since I do not have a kampung to balik to, the necessary photos have to be taken! Thanks to the dear Anis for finding my angle and snapping these beautiful shots of me :) The decor at 1 Utama definitely gives me a valid reason to dress up in one of my traditional Malay outfits.
