Moon Dream Mooncakes to Celebrate Your Mid-Autumn Festival, The Westin Kuala Lumpur

Hey merrygoers!

With just a blink of an eye and the Mid-Autumn Festival is back! This ancient tradition which started off as an offering to the moon is not a Chinese symbol of reunion and a bridge to connect and stick all the roots of a family tree strong.

You would have probably seen all the many different brands of mooncakes on sale at the various malls. From baked mooncakes to snowskin to even ice-cream mooncakes, no one can miss out on this festive season and it's the perfect reason to reunite with friends and family to enjoy some sweet delicious mooncakes.

This year, The Westin Kuala Lumpur invites you to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival with its traditional sweet and creamy Moon Dream mooncakes.

Presenting 7 delectable flavors of traditional bakes mooncakes, satisfy your cravings with the all-time favourite Pearl of Prosperity and Read Bean Paste or tantalize your tastebuds with the Supreme Mixed Nuts; perfect for the nut lover. Meanwhile for those who are health-conscious, grab the Low Sugar Plain White Lotus Paste with or without single Yolk (but seriously who doesn't like the egg yolk in their mooncake).

Creative flavors such as Green Tea Cranberry and Pearl of Harmony (Black Sesame Single Yolk) should not be missed as well this year. With a strong Green Tea flavor mix with the tanginess of cranberries plus the aromatic black sesame, it is sure to be the favourite among your guests.

Specially made with the notion of family attachment and kinship in mind, this year The Westin Kuala Lumpur mooncakes are packaged beautifully in a thoughtful personalized box which can be turned into a LED light box. The exterior of the gift box is crafted with a family conceptual picture while the colorful bright lights symbolizes the beautiful family and life. This is definitely one of the unique mooncake boxes in town and perfect as a gift.

Regardless of the genre one prefers, music always work wonder as a therapeutic time machine and bring sweet memories back. YUE refers to the phonetic symbols for delight, music and moon, this multi-functional gift box comes incorporated with a set of bluetooth speaker, allowing customers to play their preferred tracks as they relish on the exquisite Westin mooncakes.

This year, thanks to The Westin Kuala Lumpur I had the opportunity to watch Chef Chong Kon Phin demonstrate how Westin Mooncakes were made and also tried making my own mooncakes! Making the perfect mooncake sure takes practice and although Chef Chong made it look so easy, it sure wasn't. Here's some 101 on making mooncakes courtesy of Chef Chong Kon Phin from The Westin Kuala Lumpur.

Step 1: Prepare the filling and let to rest overnight

Step 2: Prepare the dough (Do not overknead the dough)

Step 3: Roll and cut the dough

Step 4: Shape the mooncake (Use your preferred filling)

Step 5: Fit into mould and bake
