Say "Yes! Fruits" with MBG New Fruits Salad Bar

Monday, June 29, 2015

Time for some healthy eating merry goers!

I have been bombarding my Instagram with some breakfast ideas requested mostly by my sister and friends and while most of them are heavy with carbohydrates I have yet to share some healthier ideas for breakfast. Now thanks to MBG FruitShop, you no longer have to worry that you are not getting your portion of fruits and vegetables each day.

Do you know that you are supposed to have at least 2 to 3 serving of fruits and vegetables each day for a healthy diet? However, with so many other schedules each day and the lack of time plus I know how it is troublesome for some of us to actual peel and prepare fruits and vegetables we tend to to eat convenient food which do not have the healthy nutrients and vitamins that we need.

To help busy bees like us and to make sure everyone gets their healthy portion of fruits and vegetables, MBG FruitShop have now launched their New Fruit Salad Bar! Did you know that International Fruit Day falls on 1 July every year and it is also the same day where MBG FruitShop host their annual "Yes! Fruits" fruity festival. This festival aims to excite Malaysians to consume more fruits with carnical-like activities such as contests, culinary demos, educational nuggets at all MBG outlets from July 1 to August 31.

In addition to their Fruit Juice Bars, now the introduction of the new Fruit Salad Bars will help cater to those who needs a quick nutritional boost especially during this Holy Ramadhan month where the Malay community should find these salad bars a convenient and healthy break-fast avenue.

To kick off MBG's "Yes! Fruits" festival, MBG hosted a healthy fruit sald demo cum workshop for bloggers and the public with consultant dietitian Indra Balaratnam at MBG's Tropicana City Mall outlet recently.

According to Indra, the key to making a good salad would be adding a variety of
colourful fruit and vegetables which offer different antioxidants. “Dried fruit, nuts,
seeds, herbs and dressings make the salad flavourful, extra nutritious and can be a
meal replacement. Yogurt is also a good protein source high in calcium that make a
perfect dressing to fruit salads,” Indra advised.

She shared three different salad recipes which are easy and delicious to make before we tried to make our own version of our fruit salad. So I'm going to share with you merry goers the three recipes so that you can make it at home too!

SUNSHINE RAINBOW SALAD

Ingredients:
Mango, Strawberries, Green kiwi, Blueberry, Raisins, Almonds

Dressing:
Juice of: 1 Orange, 1/2 Lemon, 1/2 Lime
Orange zest, 1-2 Tablespoon or Honey

Method:
Whisk the dressing in a separate mixing bowl until well combine and toss in the cut fruits. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving.

This colourful rainbow salad is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants making it the best salad to improve your immunity system! Have this for breakfast and I am sure it will make a great start for the day.

COOL YOGURT SALAD

Ingredients:
Salad leaves, Cucumber, Pink Dragonfruit, Pears, Pineapple, Watermelon, Avocado, Nuts

Dressing:
1 cup Greek Yogurt, 2 Tablespoon White Vinegar, 1 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice, 1/8 teaspoon Ground Pepper, 2 Tablespoons Chives, 2 Tablespoons Parsley, Salt (To taste)

Method:
Mix the dressing in a separate bowl and refrigerate to use when needed. Assemble the salad ingredients in a large bowl and drizzle the desired yogurt dressing.

This cool yogurt dressing is perfect to cool you down for a light afternoon lunch. You know how sleepy and lethargic you feel in the afternoon especially after a heavy meal? Well, now with this salad you will be able to feel full but refreshed! The addition of avocado provides the healthy fats needed for our heart and the cooling watermelon keeps it light and fresh but providing us the needed amount of water.

SAVOURY SPICED GREEN APPLE AND MANGO SALAD

So we're done with breakfast and lunch salad let's get on to dinner salads! Here's a savoury salad that mimics the Thai Kerabu but with green apples instead. It is rather difficult to get green mangoes but green apples are abundantly available.

Ingredients:
Green Apple (Thinly sliced), ripe Mango, fresh Mint leaves, roasted Cashew Nuts

Dressing:
1/2 cup fresh Lime juice, 3 teaspoons Fish sauce, 3 teaspoons Brown Sugar, 6 Chilli

Method:
Mix the dressing ingredients and adjust the fish sauce and brown sugar to your liking. Gently tos in the salad ingredients.

You can pair this salad as one of your dishes with rice or even eat it on its own. Really tangy and refreshing to have this and it taste like the Thai salad as well. The ripe mango balances the tartness from the green apples and the roasted cashew nuts gave it some crunch.

Even if you are not creative in your salad recipes, now you can just buy your salads from MBG Fruit Salad Bar where they have a ton of different fruits and healthy toppings to choose from. They even have date syrup and date vinegar which is really good for your health. You can also purchase their additional toppings and dressings from their outlets so that you can make your very own salads at home.

Eat healthily and live healthily with MBG Fruit Salad Bar! Now you can have your fruits even on the go!

Top Salon Brand and Experience with La Biosthetique

Friday, June 26, 2015

Ola pretty merry goers~

Time to start taking better care of our hair! Have you heard of La Biosthetique? La Biosthetique has an international reputation for premium quality, luxury products, innovations and the development of international Hair and Beauty trends!

The La Biosthetique philosophy stems from the discovery of the physiological connection between hair and skin by biochemist, Marcel Contier where their scientist use the concept together with the most up-to-date findings on cosmetics, dermatology to develop first class product. Each product is carefully created and blended with high quality raw materials and subjected to the strictest tolerability and efficacy test! They even use pure spa water from the Black Forest in Germany. The first product was Babybios which actually cured cradle cap - a common issue among infants born with weak keratin structure! So if it works on infants you definitely know it is all natural.

I was very lucky to be introduced to La Biosthetique thanks to Christine from Nerkdex for inviting me! Nerkdex is actually an academy for hair salons which brings in foreign brands for our hair pampering plus new technologies and styles.

We were also graced by the presence of the team of La Biosthetique who further explained about the brand and also demonstrated some of the scalp treatment available under the brand. Not only that, we were shown how customers will be served at La Biosthetique salons where the La Biosthetique stylists will first check the customer's scalp condition and recommend the best scalp treatment suited for them.

Each scalp treatment starts with the signature La Biosthetique massage where they use essential oils to relax the customer and prep them for the therapy. Each scent is different depending on the customer's scalp condition.

We were also shown some runway styles which you can style for an event or even for a normal day out. Don't the models look gorgeous with their hairstyles?

It was interesting how the range of La Biosthetique products suit every age and hair type. I am currently using their Green line which is has apple and kiwi in it and I totally love it. My hair feels stronger and much lighter after using it and it does not get as oily as fast as it used to especially with the humid weather in Malaysia.

Since we were given a complimentary scalp treatment voucher of course we just had to try out the scalp treatment and my dear friend Carol and I decided to go to Andy Ho at Pavilion to get it done!

With a minimalistic decor suited with the La Biosthetique image, it portrayed the brand image well and the staff were really friendly too.

So let's get started on the scalp treatment. My hair was definitely not in the best condition that day and was practically screaming to have a nice wash plus treatment.

So first up! The scalp analysis where they used this nifty gadget to scan my scalp and *horror* look at that blocked pores and oily scalp. Well to my defense I had to leave my hair unwashed for two days after I did my cold perm so... *bashful laughter* Anyway, I had some sensitive areas where you can see some redness and overall I had oily scalp condition especially at the front parts well no thanks to the humid weather in Malaysia.

So my stylist decided on the Blue line for my scalp treatment and explained to me about the product and how it will help treat my scalp condition.

I was able to experience the La Biosthetique massage which was soooo relaxing! Ah.. I love massages! :) The overall treatment lasted roughly more than 30 minutes and after the treatment, they used the gadget to once again scan my scalp where I could definitely see the huge difference that one treatment made. My pores were clean and clear that I could even see the roots of my hair. *awe* I really enjoyed the treatment at Andy Ho where they definitely pampered me well so to those who are looking to experience the La Biosthetique treatment you can get it done at Andy Ho Pavilion for RM285. Although it is pricey but for good hair you should at least get it done once. Scalp treatments are really necessary especially if you have a lot of hair damage or bleached your hair which does harm your scalp.
