Hello my lovelies! It's the weekend again so let me introduce you to one of my favourite spots for brunch! I used to visit one of the local swimming centres in Petaling Jaya known as the PJ Palm Sports Centre! It was my favourite place for a nice workout swim session with the sister and to my delight they opened a quaint cafe called the Jam & Kaya cafe in the premise! This was great because after a nice swim, our tummies were always growling and hungry for some good food.
Jam & Kaya is located right in the premise of PJ Palms Sports Centre and has a nice warm and cozy cottage feel to it. Decorated with some warm armchairs and wooden interior, it is really welcoming to step into this cafe after a nice swim.
Not only that great idea for these huge windows which are great for photo taking like this shot I took of my sister and her friend after our swim session. Spacious and not overly cramped, I would say they can fit about 10 tables for a full house. There are also several cakes on display but since we were here for some brunch, we will focus on some of their must haves!
Using brown paper for their menu sure gives a vintage vibe to it and the price range of the food is from below RM10 to roughly around RM20+ which I find to be quite reasonable for their portion.
First up, we ordered their Farmer's Pancake Breakast (RM18.90) which had that gorgeous sunny-sideup on top of a tower of pancakes, hash brown, chicken ham, sauteed button mushrooms and salad leaves with a drizzle of syrup. Presentation wise, it sure light up smiles on our faces and we couldn't wait to dig in.
The pancakes were really fluffy and you can see the thickness of each pancake and yes that yolk still had that runniness to it which I so adore! The pairing of savory hash brown with pancakes, some of that delicious yolk and sweet syrup was one of the best pairing I have tasted. Sweet and salty! Yums! Those button mushrooms were sauteed perfectly too leaving them still juicy and fragrant.
We also ordered one of their latest addition at that time which was the Corn Fritters (RM19.90). This brunch dish had sweet caramelised onions with chicken sausage cubes, that perfect sunny sideup and corn fritters. Paired with some tangy sauce, this definitely will leave you feeling satiated!
I couldn't get enough of that caramelised onions which were just so sweet and paired well with the rest of the dish. If you are a fan of caramelised onions, I would recommend you getting this too.
Lastly, we had the must have brunch dish which is the Egg Benedict (RM16.70). Who can deny the glorious pleasure of that perfectly poached egg with the creamy Hollandaise sauce over some chicken ham and freshly baked croissants?
Although I would prefer the Egg Royale which came with smoked salmon instead, this pairing was just so good. I just cannot say no to Egg Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was light yet creamy pairing well with that super flaky croissant. This was the dish the sister's friend picked but we couldn't help but picking at it.
Overall it was a really great experience dining at Jam & Kaya and I will surely come back and have another brunch session! Who's up for a nice swim before that?
