dc-comics-superheroes-cafe-sky-avenue-genting-highlands-review

Hello merry goers!

It's the start of the week plus with my wisdom tooth giving me much pain, some superhero food sure will help.

dc-comics-superheroes-cafe-sky-avenue-genting-highlands-review

So who's a fan of DC Comics? There's a super cool cafe that will really win the hearts of DC Comics fans and I had the chance to check them out during my 36-Hour Food Trip at Sky Avenue Genting Highlands. If not because of this Food Trip, I don't think I would actually have the chance to pop in and have a look and oh boy I had fun :)

Walking into the cafe, you will be greeted with tons of wall murals and also life sized figurines of characters from DC Comics. Check out Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Batman and many more!

Oh wait, I can't leave out Superman.

dc-comics-superheroes-cafe-sky-avenue-genting-highlands-review

Each table was well decorated with comic scenes and graffiti art of the characters. Just like all themed cafes, there would be a hit or miss either in decoration of food so let's see if the food is any good. I've been to several themed cafes which well, you are paying for the ambiance and decoration more than the food served. So I was intrigued with what DC Comic Cafe have to offer.

After going through their whole menu which was equally DC Comic inspired, me and my hungry pals decided on several dishes which were not only instaworthy but looked pretty decent for the price.

Superman Punch Burger RM28

First up, Superman Punch Burger - Homemade beef burger with cheese, pineapple and bolognaise sauce served with fries. Ok I'll admit, I ordered this because firstly it's a Superman themed dish and secondly it comes in this Superman lunch box which I wanted to cart home.

The meal came with some juicy Beef Burger topped with cheese and a grilled pineapple with was so good! I just love grilled pineapples because it has this additional sweetness to it. Served with thick fries, this Superman set packed a punch in my tummy. By the way, do you see how they stamped the bun with the Superman logo? Now that's what I call effort :)

Barman vs Hawkman Set RM23

Next just like the movie, we got a Batman set to see which sets fare better. The Batman vs Hawkman set which is also served in a Batman lunch box was an Egg and Turkey Roll Burger served with fries. This set came with a fried egg which would really win if the yolk was still runny. Tastewise, I still prefer my Superman Beef Burger.

(L-R) Crunch Time Cappu | Bruce's Top Toffee | Do You Bleed Latte

We also got some drinks (also so DC Comics themed) to match with our meal. Bruce's Top Toffee won my heart with the cup. Like seriously, can I just take the cup back? Super cute Batman inspired cup and it even has a cape just like Batman!

By the way, I checked their merchandise store just opposite the cafe and it's nearly RM100 for the cup. The Chocolate Toffee Ice Blended was chocolatey, icy and not too sweet which one of my pals finished up the whole glass.

One tip: Please do not breathe in or out to strongly because the cocoa powder will just fly!

Hot drinks, we got the Do You Bleed Latte (Batman) and the Crunch Time Cappu (Superman). Overall both the latte and cappuccino was well accepted and not bad for a nice cup of coffee.

Cafe interior, checked! Food, checked! This place is a recommended cafe for me especially if you are a die hard DC Comics Super Heroes fan. So the next time you are up in Sky Avenue, why not drop by have a cup of coffee or well just take gazillion photos with your favourite Superhero.

"Althea Petal Velvet Powder - Like a flower's gentle petals dancing on the skin"

Hi there my loves, if I haven't said it enough let me say it again. Althea has just got to be the best online place to shop for all my beauty and cosmetic needs. They recently announced an exciting news - Althea Petal Velvet Powder. This is their first ever Althea range product and oh-boy was I excited to receive it

The Petal Velvet Powder is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Inspired by Korean Althea flowers, the powder is infused with oil from the Althea seeds and reminds me of my favourite Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder.

Comes in a little packaging, you get 3g of micro-fine powder and it comes with a mini puff too. First impression, it's PINK! And the scent is just lovely - the scent of spring. Seriously, the product is super fine and can be compared with the Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder.

Benefits:

❤ Makeup setting & Long Wearing
❤  Micro-fine particles
❤  Soft Smooth Texture
❤  Sebum Control & Pore Blurring
❤  Natural & Cruelty-free Ingredients

How I use it for my daily makeup is to set my concealer and also for sebum control. Nowadays, I tend to just use concealer instead of full face foundation unless I have an event The puff really picks up the product well and you just have to dab it onto your face.

I really like the finishing of the Althea Petal Velvet Powder; leaving my face looking soft but not cakey. It helps to set my makeup and also keeps my face oil-free for most part of the day. I like how it subtly covers my pores and not clog it plus it creates a satin finish. Even the boyfie approves of my makeup that day. He said that it looked natural which was a plus point. He hates it when I put on makeup so it was good to know that this powder is boyfriend approved.

Why wait any longer, go grab them at Althea while they still have stocks.

Til next time
xoxo

a-better-florist-singapore-captivating-blooms-24-hour-flower-delivery

There’s nothing that can match the beauty and magical energy of flowers. Flowers are in my opinion one of the best gifts nature has given us, and I am thankful for the existence of florists who are able to use flowers to create gorgeous arrangements that make us feel so happy.
I love flowers for any occasion or no occasion at all for that matter, as they simply uplift my spirits and give me a boost of energy that seems like it came out of nowhere. This flower power craze led me to test out numerous florists in Singapore, but I am happy to say that I have discovered the best florist in Singapore, and that’s not an exaggeration.
a-better-florist-singapore-captivating-blooms-24-hour-flower-delivery

A Better Florist dedicates the same amount of time and attention to every single part of the process of creating a bouquet. Although these flower arrangements look effortlessly beautiful and easy, the best florist in Singapore takes their time to grow their blooms, deliver them to the shop themselves, keep the blooms fresh, make unique designs and deliver it to people around Singapore.
The typical flower shop will usually offer flower bouquets and arrangements, but A Better Florist expert florists are experienced in creating fruit baskets, wedding flowers and bouquets, pampering bundles, funeral wreaths and so much more. If you have something in mind that isn’t offered on their website, you can contact them and ask for something specific and custom to be made exclusively for you.
I love everything that’s on their website, and I’ve spent some time scrolling through the flowers that are displayed on the website right now. It’s just the right number of bouquets and arrangements, so you don’t feel overwhelmed, but it can be hard to choose, because each and every arrangement is attractive in its own way.
a-better-florist-singapore-captivating-blooms-24-hour-flower-delivery

Their 24 hour florist delivery in Singapore is by far one of the best. Not many florists are committed to delivering flowers, every day, even on the holidays. They are the best flower delivery in Singapore as they are able to take your order, process it, create your bouquet and deliver it within only 90 minutes. If you’re looking for a cheap flower delivery in Singapore, A Better Florist are the masters of it.
And if you’re feeling a little envious of everyone in Singapore right now, you’re in luck, because they’ve expanded their flower empire and now have a Dubai Florist and a Hong Kong florist, and are known as the best florist in Hong Kong. Watch out world, you’re probably next. They now offer the best flower delivery in Hong Kong, so if you happen to be there, and not in Singapore, you can experience what they have to offer.
If you’re in Singapore, you can find A Better florist in Plaza Singapura, Bugis, Changi Airport, and all throughout Singapore, but my guilty pleasure is shopping online. It’s easy to find everything you need in one place, and it saves a lot of time.
I highly recommend you give in and take a look at what A Better Florist has to offer. If you love authentic, beautiful designs and fresh flowers, you won’t regret it.
Til next time, xoxo Miriam

Annyeonghaseyo!

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review

Time for some #MiriamEats with delicious Korean BBQ. My food exploration this time took me to Ampang, where most will associate it with Little Korea Town. There are tons of Korean eateries around that area and some serving really good Korean BBQ too. I celebrated my sister's birthday at one of the little Korean BBQ joints last two years.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review

688 Yook Pal Pal Korean BBQ & Steamboat is located at the shoplots right opposite Ampang Point. A quaint corner lot, parking spaces seem ample during my visit. This place serves both Korean BBQ and Steamboat. Let's get down to business and check out what they have to offer.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review

We actually got to try their Signature Cheese Pork BBQ (RM69.90) and Cheese Topokki (RM23) which was the highlight thanks to the cheese. Pork slices were abundant and the cheese really elevates the taste and flavor of this dish. What can you not love when you have cheese in it? The outer ring has steamed egg, kimchi, pineapple and corn which will get heated up.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review

The cheese when melted is absolutely divine as it wraps itself around the pork. Pork meat is succulent and well marinated as well. Although it was a heavy dish, grab some fresh lettuce, green pepper and kimchi to make a ssam (lettuce wrap). I just love enjoying my Korean BBQ this way; a healthier and much filling choice.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Cheese Topokki (RM23)

Cheese lover will like their Cheese Topokki as well. Spicy and sweet with chewy rice cakes, fish cake, cabbage and also an egg. I actually quite enjoy this version of Topokki as some places tend to cook theirs rather sweet.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review

Besides the two signature dishes, we ordered some meat to grill because you just cannot forget getting meat! I love how the grill actually uses charcoal because there's that smokiness that adds more flavor to the meat. This grill plate comes with cheese ring (Yes!), steamed egg, garlic and corn.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review

As you can see, we did order quite a lot of meats! From Pork to Beef, do take note that you have to order a minimum of 2 pax portion. Here are some of the recommended meat options to choose from:

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Marinated Lamb Chop (RM35/pax)

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Marinated Octopus
688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Beef Ribs

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Haemul Pancake (RM27)
688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Japchae

Just Korean BBQ sure won't fill you up so you can opt to add some side orders like Haemul Pancake (Seafood Pancake), Samgehytang (Ginseng Chicken), Japchae, etc. The Haemul Pancake was rather thick compared to other places that I eat but it is up your preference on how you like your pancakes.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Kimchi Hot Pot (RM60 for small)
Their Kimchi Hotpot was laden with ingredients and can really fill you up. Recommended if you're coming in a large group. Well seasoned and you can really taste the flavors from the kimchi used.

688-korean-bbq-steamboat-yook-pal-pal-ampang-review
Samgyetang (RM38)

If you like Sangehytang (Ginseng Chicken), this place serves really 'power' ginseng chicken. Each sip is filled with the strong flavor and taste from the Ginseng Wine that they provide. If you do not like it to be too strong, don't pour in the whole cup. Chicken was well infused with ginseng and the glutinous rice stuffed was well done.

Overall it was a pretty satisfying meal and we left the place with a full tummy. Those of you who are looking for a new Korean BBQ joint, check out their menu and LIKE their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/yook.palpal/ for the latest offers.

The past weekend has been pretty epic with a 36 Hour Food Trail at Sky Avenue Genting Highlands. I surely have not eaten so much in that two days! Eating at 28 outlets within a period of 2 days has got to be an amazing feat so do stay tuned to my post once I manage to filter through the hundreds of photos.

senikome-peng-heng-resorts-world-genting-highlands-cultural-exhibition-sky-avenue-activities-review-food

In the meantime, let's have a little culture and artsy post first. Culture and the arts are given prominence at SeniKome Peng Heng in Resorts World Genting—and reflecting this is a series of activities that will be held in the coming months. We managed to schedule in a short break to pay a visit at SeniKome Peng Heng which highlights East Coast  traditional visual and performing arts. The Cultural Centre is located right next to Food Factory which I also reviewed the last time I had a staycation in Resorts World Genting.

From July to September, you will be able to really submerge yourself in your Malaysian roots with the amazing exhibition in the East Coast Arts & Cultural Centre. One of the highlights is the Joget Gamelan, a classical dance that originated in the 17th century and specifically popular in Pahang and Terengganu.

I had my experience living in the East Coast, in particular Kelantan when I was undergoing my Degree so stepping into this Arts & Cultural Centre brought back memories and also allowed me to learn more about the heritage of Malaysia.

There will be different art forms being showcased throughout this two months every weekend.

29 - 30 July : Batik Canting
26 - 27 August: Silk Screen Painting
31 August & 1 September : Watercolour Painting Demo
2 - 3 September: Joget Gamelan
9 - 10 September: Sketching
16 - 17 September: Pottery
22 - 24 September : Weaving Demo

The splendours of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia—the states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan—lie at the heart of SeniKome. Thematic displays of art and culture from these states are the
focus of the centre. SeniKome, which means “our art” in the Pahang local dialect, is indeed dedicated to promoting the beauty of the east coast local craft, fashion, games, food and music.

The centre also aims to foster a creative environment where traditional artistry can flourish through immersive programmes such as the Wayang Kulit and Batik displays that are coming up. There is also an experiential area for various traditional games; this is where visitors can participate in Congkak and Batu Seremban.

I still remember those times in Primary School when we played Congkak and Batu Seremban for fun! Really brings back a lot of memories and you can also try playing these games at the centre.

How can one truly experience art and culture without trying some of the delicious East Coast cuisines? You can also enjoy food and drinks at the centre; the East Coast Art and Souvenir Shop not only offers gift options like fine textiles and pewter ware items—visitors can enjoy traditional dishes like the signature Nasi Kerabu or Keropok Lekor. Their Nasi Kerabu is the best! I could taste the Kelantan flavors in each spoonful; with the different herbs and ulam. Gosh it just transports me back to Kelantan and I just love it.

There is also a Reading Corner at the centre, and visitors can join the guided tours that are held three times daily. Admission tickets to SeniKome are priced at RM8 for adults (RM7 for GRC members) and RM6 for children (RM5 for GRC members). For larger groups, the family package is priced at RM25 that allows entrance to two adults and two children.

Don't miss out on this cultural experience while enjoying the cool weather up in Genting Highlands. For more details call +603 2718 1118 or visit www.rwgenting.com

Now time to get that 36 hours Food Trail post up.

Til next time,
xoxo
