Bonjour merry goers out there~

Today I'm going to share with all of you a 1920's inspired makeup look and jewellery to match. If you have been following my blog, you would have read about my amazing experience at The Party of The Century hosted by Mammoth Group at Empire City. The theme for the night was glamourous 1920's and well since I was not much of a glamour gal I've gone for a softer vintage 1920's look instead.

The makeup look was done by Alice Loh from byaliceloh.com and the jewellery was kindly sponsored by Angi from Kelvin Gems. I would say I really loved the makeup and hairdo by Alice which was really soft and matched the dress that I brought over to her studio. The whole makeup look was a look that I was able to carry and it brought out the 1920's vintage romantic feel.

For those out there who are looking for a classic and vintage romantic feel this Valentine's Day you can get some pointers from this look.

The hairdo Alice had prepared for me that night was nice loose curls which she pinned up for a more elegant look. She had also used some hair mist to set my hair in place so that I will still be able to maintain this look the whole night.

Honestly speaking, I have had some experience with stylist curling my hair and making me look ten years older with tight curls with tons of hair spray so I was quite hesitant when I saw Alice curling my hair. Thankfully, after the whole process was done she had not made me look like a Mrs/Madam instead of a Ms.

Olla merry goers!

It's the start of another week and one of a major celebration around the world is happening this Saturday. Can you guess what? Well, it's Valentine's Day this Saturday and it's the day where lovers celebrate this day and express their love for one another. Of course you can also celebrate this with your family and friends and not necessary only with your other half.

One of the major search items during this period will be
"WHERE to celebrate Valentine's Day"
There are tons of places you have your Valentine's Dinner but let me share with you a place where you can have a different experience celebrating Valentine's Day!

Introducing Komura Japanese Restaurant in Corus Hotel located just 5 minutes away from KLCC. I have previously written about their Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner promotion if you have not read it.

Anyway, Komura Japanese Restaurant is practically built to look like tea houses in Kyoto where they actually build individual tea houses for room instead of the conventional rooms you have. Stepping into Komura Japanese Restaurant you will feel like you have been transported to Japan with their unique architecture and their pebbled pathway with Japanese features all around. The servers are also wearing the traditional Kimono and for rooms with tatami mats, you are required to remove your shoes and enjoy your meal like a Japanese.

This year, Komura Japanese Restaurant have designed a  special set menu for you to enjoy with your love ones for only RM 280++ per couple. Each couple will be able to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisines made fresh plus a complimentary 200gm heart-shaped cake and an Instant Photo to preserve that memory.

The full Valentine's Day Set Dinner includes:

Zenzai (Appetizer - Canape Plate)
*Tuna Tartar
Maro Kyuri
Tamagoyaki and Unagi
Wakame
Tako sumiso ae

Dobin Mushi
Tea Pot Soup

Sashimi Moriawase
Assorted Sashimi

Yakimono (Grilled Saikyo Miso to Nasu Dengaku)
Grilled Cod Fish with Egg Plant

Agemono
Sanma wrapped with Oba Leaf and Japanese Plum

Wagyu Moromiyaki
Pan Fried Wagyu Beef

Shokuji
Sansai to Innaniwa Udon

Dessert
Matcha Cream Brulee and Mango Fruit

Starting off with the Sashimi Moriawase , this platter of assorted sashimi glittering on a bed of ice will make any Japanese food fans salivate. The sashimi were cut beautifully and tasted so sweet and fresh. The butterfish served was really buttery and practically melted in my mouth. I have yet to taste another piece of butterfish that tasted so sweet that night.

The thick slices of sashimi will really give you that satisfaction in every bite as you enjoy this dish with your other half. The sweetness of each piece served really kicked off the evening.

Next let's clear our palates with the Dobin Mushi (Tea Pot Soup). This delicious soup was served in a tea pot and was bursting with flavour. The ingredients used were well cooked and the flavours from each ingredient was well extracted from them.

You will be able to enjoy the freshness of the prawn in each Dobin Mushi which was still tender and succulent. It was a pleasure to sip every drop from this unique dish to experience that Japanese traditional dish.

Now let's proceed to have a crunchy bite to this dinner affair. Serving up hot and crispy, the Sanma Wrapped with Oba Leaf and Japanese Plum. What I really liked about this agemono is that Komura Japanese Restaurant was really generous with the amount of Sanma meat and they really prepared the meat really well that there was no fishy taste or smell which you may find at other restaurants. Besides that, the Japanese Plum gives it a nice tangy flavour which made this dish really appetizing. The tempura batter was just nice and not too thick so you really get a crispy and crunchy exterior which sweet sanma meat inside. I liked that they used Oba Leaf as well to wrap the Sanma fish which gave it additional flavour.

Following up is one of my favourite dish for the night which is the Wagyu Moromiyaki (Pan Fried Wagyu Beef). I am a super beef lover and I have fallen head over heels for this dish at my first bite! The Wagyu beef was super well seasoned and was cooked medium rare which was super tender just the way I liked it. The ratio between the meat and the fats were well balanced and it had just the right chew between every bite. I couldn't stop myself from having more of this dish. The Wagyu beef is imported from Australia and is really fresh as well. The chef did a great job in preparing this dish that I keep craving for it. If you or your partner are meat lovers like me I am sure you will enjoy this dish.

Included in the Valentine's Day Set Dinner is also the Shokuji Sansai To Inaniwa Udon, a lovely udon dish with well seasoned vegetable broth base. If you are still hungry after the previous dishes that have been served so far you will definitely have your fill with this Udon dish. The soup was savoury and seasoned really well and had that umami flavour. The udon noodles were still al dente and was not too soft. Even though I was so busy attacking the Wagyu Beef and neglected the Udon dish, it still tasted lovely when I finally tried it. I like the vegetable that they added on top to give it an additional texture. It reminded me of wakame seaweed and it was cooked perfectly, tender and sweet. This dish added on to the sweetness of the meal.

Now, what is a great dinner if we do not finish it off with some sweet desserts! To end the dinner on a sweet note, we have the Matcha Cream Brulee and Mango Fruit. This Matcha Cream Brulee was creamy and sweet with a tinge of green tea. The top of the cream brulee was well torched as well and have it a crispy texture as you take your first bite. I would still prefer if the dessert had a stronger matcha flavour to it but I guess they need to suit the Malaysian tastebuds.

Served with this dessert is also Mango Fruit and a Japanese Mochi. The mochi was soft and supple just the way I like it and the red bean paste in it was not too sweet so that it does not overpower the main dessert.

For Valentine's Day, Komura Japanese Restaurant is also giving a complimentary 200gm heart-shaped cake to celebrate this romantic day. Enjoy this cake with your partner and if you are too full from that scrumptious dinner no worries as you can bring it home and enjoy it later.

One thing to take note is that Komura Japanese Restaurant is cooked without using any MSG and preservatives and all the yummy savoury flavours are from the ingredients that they use.

So don't wait any longer. If you have not made any reservations for Valentine's Day, celebrate your Valentine's Day at Komura Japanese Restaurant and have an unique and pleasant romantic dinner with your significant other.

Hey there merry goers.

Valentine's Day is coming real soon and it is time to start pampering ourselves for our other half or to those who are single let's start grooming ourselves well. Today I would like to share with all of you my virgin experience of waxing. I gave my first time waxing to Bubble Gum Wax, the waxing expert located at Casa Tropicana thanks to Butterfly Project.

I have no experience whatsoever before going to Bubble Gum Wax and I was super nervous. I initially made a booking for underarm IPL but as the sessions were booked so I decided to try out their Brazillian waxing. I have heard tons of reviews from my friends and online about Brazilian waxing and how it is a torture and agony so I was really nervous before entering Bubblegum Wax. For those who are not familiar with Brazilian waxing, it is actually Bikini Wax which mean removing the hairs around the private area. *yikes* As we all know that area is seriously tender and sensitive so you really need to treat it with care.

Being hairless is something most ladies out there want. To have smooth skin without any hair is not something everyone has the privilege of having. Most of us would resort to shaving, using hair removal creams, waxing and the latest technology IPL which uses pulsating lights to remove your hair. However did you know that it is really bad to use the shaver and especially hair removal creams? Using a shaver to remove your hair only removes hair at the surface of your skin and this causes the hair to grow thicker and also causes you to have dry skins and dark spots. Using hair removal creams is even worse thanks to all the chemicals they include in the cream. These cream when you use it especially on your underarms and at your pubic area is extremely bad as these are the most sensitive areas for your body and do remember ladies out there that whatever you put on your underarm will directly affect your breast as it is close with your underarms.

The next best alternative is waxing but there are several types of waxing.  You can either use the Hard Wax or the Soft Wax. The soft wax is used more frequently as it is cheaper and the adhesive power is stronger than the hard wax. Using soft wax, you will be able to remove sparse hair and all those baby hairs as well. The downside is that since it is super adhesive, using the soft wax is more painful compared to using hard wax. To remove thicker hair, hard wax is sufficient and does not hurt as much but downside is that you may have to use it several times on the same area (around 2-3 times) to fully remove the hairs.

Bubblegum Wax is daring us to wax and I was invited to check out their newest outlet at Casa Tropicana. It is located on the first floor above 7-11 and there is free parking for those who are driving there. It is quite a small outlet with around 8 rooms available. The Casa Tropicana outlet is renovated and furnished really nicely with their brick walls giving it a grungy look.

Each customer is given a hygiene wipe to wipe the area that you want to wax. This is to prevent from any germ infection. So it was time for the first experience. I was attended by Wendy a super friendly and bubbly girl who really did a great job. She explained to me how waxing is and what you should do before and after waxing. Besides that she also advice not to use so much feminine wash and panty liners/ pads unless we really need it during that time of the month as using these products will cause us to have very sensitive and dry private areas. If your private part is dry, this will cause your waxing experience to be really painful.

Since it was my first time, Wendy decided to use Hot Wax as it would not be as painful and she would use the Soft Wax just for all the baby hairs that the Hot Wax is unable to remove. It was initially really awkward to expose myself to someone who I just met for the first time but she was really professional about it and you will lose track of what was happening. We had a nice chat throughout my session and she really kept my mind off the waxing so it was bearable for me. Don't worry because all the staff at Bubblegum Wax are really experienced and will ensure you have a comfortable time there.

The overall process took about 30 minutes and after she finished waxing, Wendy applied the post waxing cream to soothe my sensitive skin. I was also given one bottle of the cream to use at home. This cream not only soothes my skin but also provides moisture to ensure that it is not too dry and sensitive at my private areas.

NOTE:
Here are several Do's and Don'ts that you should take note of

DO
Please apply soothing moisturising cream on your freshly waxed area because your skin will dry after waxing
Exfoliate your skin after three days to prevent in-grown hair

DON'T
Don't go for a hot bath immediately after your hair removal treatment.
Do not go swimming within three days after waxing
Do not apply deodorant or perfume freshly waxed areas for up to 24 hours.

Overall I had a memorable and bearable virgin experience of waxing and there at least I can proudly say that I have done Brazilian Waxing! After all the torture stories I have heard about it I am glad that I did not experience such a terrible waxing experience at Bubblegum Wax and I will definitely recommend Bubble Gum Wax to any 'Virgin' girls out there who have not tried out waxing as Bubble Gum Wax is definitely the Waxing Expert in town! Thanks so much to Bubble Gum Wax and Butterfly Project for letting me try out this experience and also to Wendy for such a great service! I can't wait to make my next appointment and this time it is time to have hairfree legs and underarms this Valentine's Day! You don't want to look like an orangutan do you?

The prices at Bubble Gum Wax is really reasonable as well and you can practically remove your hair at every part of your whole body. I'm serious. They even have service to remove hairs on your toes, navel, nipples, etc!

They are also having a Valentine's Day promotion for both you and your other half. Yes you heard that right! Brazilian waxing is no longer just for girls but there is a Boyzilian waxing too!

Hi there merry goers!

Today I would like to share with you a life-changing application that will really make your life easier. You know living in the city the one thing that everyone hates is TRAFFIC JAM. Getting stuck in a congestion not only ruins your day but also causes you to lose money in terms of your petrol cost.  Staying in KL or Selangor you can never avoid traffic jams unless well... you plan to travel in the wee hours in the morning or late at night which is rather dangerous especially for girls.

And of course even after getting through the jam, how many of you have encountered facing  full parking lots in shopping malls which you again waste time going round and round searching for a spot to park. I personally hate two things when it comes to driving which is
1. Traffic Jam
2. Searching for Parking Space

Unfortunately for us, the public transportation is not that convenient like for me I only have one public bus coming into my housing area and it takes like 30 minutes for each interval. If I were to go to Mid Valley for example I would have to take a bus from my housing area out to the main road to change another bus to go to Mid Valley. I always had to allocate more than one hour if I were to take the public transport.

BUT! There have been plenty of taxi applications popping up around that promotes easier transportation problems but let's face it. Do you think this will actually solve the real problem of the congestion in the city? The main reason for congestion is that Malaysians don't really practice carpooling. How many times have you seen that there is only one or two person in each car. Imagine this... if 1000 people were to drive their own separate cars to a similar destination for example Mid Valley you will see 1000 cars on the road. But if we started carpooling, just do the math! Those 1000 cars will be cut down to just roughly 250 cars.  Can you imagine how much fuel will we be saving PLUS how much reduction of air pollution will there be?

Today I would like to introduce Tripda, an online carpooling platform that connects frivers commuting with empty seats in their cars and passengers heading the same way. Their vision is to transform carpooling into a viable transportation alternative, so both driver and passenger can share the cost of the trip, while meeting new people, reducing traffic and preserving the environment.

While Tripda may still be a new concept in Malaysia, it is actually quite popular overseas where people are open and practice the concept of carpooling. And it is just so simple to use Tripda! Not only you will be able to save the hassle of driving to your destination and avoid all the parking hassle, you will also be able to meet new friends along the way.

I know what most of you will be thinking. What is Tripda and how does it work and most importantly is it safe? Safety is a major concern for everyone including me especially for all the ladies out there. I mean who knows we may get like a serial killer as our driver. But if you think about it clearly, I mean how much can you trust the taxi driver that drives you either?

With Tripda, they have thought about the safety of the passengers and also it is very important that we feel safe and comfortable when using this platform. Every driver and passenger has to be registered with Tripda using their Facebook account and their mobile number. As you all know in Malaysia, all mobile phone numbers are registered with the government so it is easier to track down each number. Besides that, you will be able to see how many friends does the driver/passenger has before accepting to share a ride together. If you don't feel comfortable just don't select that ride.

Now the next worry, what if the driver/passenger stalk you using your Facebook account? Well, not to worry because Tripda has thought about this matter as well. Unless you have approved to share a ride with the person you won't be able to see the full name of the driver/passenger which means you won't be able search that person online. You will just see for example my name Miriam H.

So enough of all this talk and babble about how beneficial Tripda is and let me give you merry goers a look on how does this online platform work. Firstly you need to register your account with Tripda and you can select your preference like for example if you are sociable, or if you allow smoking, eating, pets and etc. This is if you are interested to offer a ride as a driver. You can also list your car that you will be using to offer a ride.

So after authenticating your account using mobile number, Facebook and email  you can now either start offering a ride or even searching for a ride. Here's how you can offer a ride.

Part 1: Firstly just list your ride which includes your origin point to your final destination. You will be able to see your ride route by the map displayed on the right side of the screen.

Just select your departure date and time and if it is a one way or round trip journey,

Part 2: So after listing the details of your ride you can also select if you are ok with making detours or stopping along the way. Then you can select the price you would like to charge per passenger.

Reminder: Tripda is a non-profit transportation platform which encourages carpooling. It is not the same as a taxi because you are just sharing the cost of the ride and not earning from it.

The colour of the price will change from GREEN to YELLOW to RED depending on how high you set your price. This will allow the passenger to note if your price is on a higher range.

You can also select which car you will be using to offer the ride and how many passengers are you willing to accept.

You can also include other details like your meeting points, why are you travelling, or any information you would like your passengers to know. You can also include the luggage size that you allow each passenger to bring for instance if you are off to the airport you would like to allocate a certain amount of space for each passenger.

For Ladies out there here is another safety feature in Tripda where you can choose to offer a Ladies Only ride which means NO MEN ALLOWED. Only ladies will be allowed to select your ride.

And there you have it. You can publish your ride and share it on Facebook as well to get passengers. This is a useful option for example if you are off for an outing with your friends you can share this ride on Facebook for them to select and choose your ride to carpool with you. You can have the company of friends and also share out the cost of the ride.

If someone is interested with your ride they can leave messages to you on your ride for example a passenger was interested to join my ride and was wondering if I would be able to make a stop along my route. He/She will leave a message like a Whatsapp messenger and we can further discuss then.

So what about if you are looking for a ride? It is real simple.

Part 1: Just type in your origin location and your destination in the search bar and a list of rides will be shown.

For example, you can see the ride that I offered earlier is listed in the list of rides available. You can scroll through the list until you find a suitable ride. This is where Tripda is different and safe. You are able to see WHO your driver is and WHERE your driver is heading and WHAT are your driver's preference. You can also see HOW much the driver is charging per passenger. Real neat right!

So if you are interested with a ride you can select that ride and you will be able to see more details about that ride and how many seats are available. You can also private message the driver if you have any inquiries.

And there you have it! A simple and convenient way of travelling using Tripda. You will be able to both benefit as a driver and passenger since you will be sharing the cost of the ride, you can meet new friends, reduce the number of cars on the road and also save the environment.

Tripda is also available on Android and Apple stores so that you can now offer and find a ride with just a click on your smartphone. Check out the cool video introducing Tripda.

HOLD ON THERE!
