Hi merry goers!

Time for another round of Korean BBQ and this time let's head over to YG Republique located in TREC KL. If the name sounds familiar, you're right! YG Republique is the eat-out concept restaurant operated and owned by YG Entertainment which houses Samgeori Butcher’s 삼거리 푸주간 (a BBQ grill restaurant) and K-Pub (bar snacks and a wide variety of beer).

When YG Republique first launched a year back, it was the talk of the town especially with Big Bang member SeungRi who made his appearance during the launch. Finally, I had the chance to check out the food they have to offer. Located right in the centre of TREC KL, you can enjoy great Korean BBQ before heading next door to K-Pub for the Korean Pub experience.

The main highlight at Samgeori Butcher's is their Butcher's Sampler. Serving only the finest Iberico pork cuts, you will be enjoying four types of cuts served in 150g portions - belly (RM55), neck (RM55), jaw (RM65) and abanico (RM60), which are cured in cypress pine to improve flavour and texture. Special sauces are developed to accentuate the pork flavours. They also have Wagyu beef as well as LA rib, which are also triple-aged for optimum flavour.

The Butcher's Sampler (RM210 for 600g) comes with the Iberico Neck, Shoulder, Belly and Ribs. This set comes with salads and refillable side-dishes. Comfortably feeding 3 to 4 pax, this is a great way of sampling the different cuts of meat they have to offer. Really going for the butcher's concept, the meat is presented, wrapped in food-grade newspaper-like paper, just like how you would get it from your butcher.

The marbling of the meat is really gorgeous and we were all looking forward to the server cooking them up for us. Sizzling on the hot pan, the BBQ Pit at YG Republique was slightly different from other BBQ places where the exhaust is actually surrounding the grill instead of hanging above of you. This does a way better job of sucking in the smoke, ensuring you don't smell of BBQ when you're done with your food.

Enjoy the meat in a ssam - lettuce wrapped with some garlic mustard or gochujang sauce and a bit of kimchi with it. A really fulfilling way of enjoying Korean BBQ plus it's healthier too with all the veggies.

Asides from Korean BBQ, enjoy a wide assortment of Korean stews, bulgogi, noodles and rice dishes on their ala carte menu. We had the Butcher's Fried Rice (RM50 for 2pax portion) which has a generous amount of pork, aged kimchi and something different - chipotle sauce. Honestly, if you are coming here with your friends, do order this but one pax portion would clearly suffice because it was huge! The fried rice was very well seasoned with the age kimchi and a pleasure to enjoy.

We also ordered the Yangyumjang Bibimbap (RM30), Spicy Rice Cakes (RM52), Smoked Sausage Platter (RM120) and Red Fried Chicken (RM50).

The Smoked Sausage Platter was a generous platter to share if you're coming with a large group of friends. It comes with smoked sausage, pork belly, grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes not forgetting their wedges which was really very good.

Meanwhile the Red Fried Chicken was actually boneless fried chicken served with their homemade sauce which was delightful! The chicken was fried to perfection and the sauce complemented the chicken well. I am not really the best fan of fried chicken especially red sauce because I tend to find them a bit too sweet but the homemade sauce at YG Republique was really good. Not too cloying, it gave the additional sweetness and spiciness that complemented the chicken well.

BONUS!!

Enjoy YG Republique Lunch Menu promotion for RM15, which is available Mondays to Fridays from 12pm to 2.30pm PLUS Free Parking when you dine in TREC KL from 12 to 2pm. This is really great because where else can you find such amazing food plus free parking in the middle of KL?

Hey merrygoers!

Have you heard about the new social hotspot in Kuala Lumpur? Right in the heart of Bukit Bintang, welcome to the new face for Lot10! Inviting everyone to meet.play.#lovelot10, there are so many changes to Lot 10 KL than ever before. The iconic green cornerstone landmark of the faous shopping street is not reimagined as a dynamic an inclusive space imbued with fun and creative youthful exuberance. A true social destination for locals and tourist to shop, dine or simply chill out.

Last month, they had a Pasar Sari, an all-Malaysian homegrown artisan market which is in line with Lot 10's push for local entrepreneurship amongst the creative youth. A curated collective of 12 local artisans took centre stage to showcase their selection of locally sourced and produced goods perfect for locals and tourists.

There were several stalls from The Apothecary Malaysia, Kapten Btik, Buih & Co, ZáHuoHang and more. You can shop for fragrances and toiletries, pick up art, stationery and apparel or perhaps take home some homeware and decorations, and even select from a variety of agricultural products from social enterprise Langit Collective.

Not only that, there were yummy local delights from Lot 10 Hutong and Rococo Café Restaurant too! Lot 10 has plans to bring Pasar Sari back every quarter. So I'm pretty excited looking forward for the next Pasar Sari.

Celebrating local entrepreneurship and tying in with Pasar Sari, the first-ever Open Forum kicked off with #GirlBoss Talk sessions. Five influential women entrepreneurs took the stage and gave their take on starting and thriving in the fashion and beauty industry. The Open Forum will return with more weekend sessions featuring other creative minds and coming up in August, a session featuring purveyors of the trending coffee culture!

How does watching your favourite movie under the stars sound? Lot 10 Rooftop comes alive on selected Saturdays with their rooftop cinema under the stars - Cinema Paradiso. Upcoming screenings have been scheduled on Saturdays - 28 Apri, 12 and 26 May with more to be announced later. This outdoor movie screening is held in partnership with iflix, BenQ, Sennheiser and Strongbow, targetting to energize the rooftop in the evenings while exercise sessions like yoga under the sky are also planned for weekend mornings.

Lot 10 is synonymous with busking in Bukit Bintang on the weekends. During #lot10wanderlust, music and busking performances at the main entrance next to the Lot 10 mascot Lottie and the new side entrance facing the MRT exit are stepped up from noon to 9pm with performers on piano, saxophone, guitar, cello and other instruments.

A new addition to encourage free musical expression is Lot 10’s very own Open Piano, a first-ever in a Malaysian mall, where the public is encouraged to showcase their own musical talents on the keyboard at any time of the day. Look out for the public piano beautifully-painted by three students from the Raffles College of Higher Education Kuala Lumpur at the main entrance this weekend before it moves into the mall soon.

To embrace the digitalisation of experiences, Lot 10 encourages visitor experiences to be shared real-time on social media platforms. Numerous new Instagram Spots dot the mall across the floors from the rooftop swing to colourful Insta-worthy walls with angel wings and pink telephones.

New Play Walls have also been created to encourage shoppers to have some fun while shopping. You can have fun with hand-shadowplay, personalising messages on chalk walls or even discovering hidden quotes in the fire escape stairwell. Temporary pop-up and changing art installations will surprise visitors, keeping the Lot 10 experience fresh and engaging on social media all year round.

To keep all shoppers connected, WiFi is free throughout the mall and the Lot 10 Cheerleaders Squad is always on hand with their tablets to help visitors with everything – from directions and sharing the latest promotions to taking photos for shoppers.

A big push for the arts through the “Art in the City” programme is happening at Lot 10 through its collaboration with Cendana, the Cultural Economy Development Agency, to bring local artists and their creations to the heart of Bukit Bintang. Artworks will be displayed on the new LED screens at the new side entrance façade, while art installations, exhibitions, workshops, art trail tours and more will also be hosted in the mall for the rest of the year. Pop art and artistic expression by the public are also celebrated at Lot 10.

On 13 and 14 April, catch artists painting Pop Art works live at Lot 10’s main entrance near Lottie. The public can also unleash their inner artist during the Art Jam sessions on weekends, with canvases set up for them at Lot 10’s new side entrance. Do look out for the little artistic touches such as creatively-painted manhole covers in the side alley.

Taking art to the next level at Lot 10, DH Artful Décor Paper Gallery invaded the mall with various kinds of paper art sculptures, which are exhibited for public at their gallery on Ground floor. Shoppers also get to walk under a rain of 3,920 handmade paper butterflies at the concourse, hung from the ceiling of the mall.

Apart from that, Lot 10 has also partnered with SOCAR, a car-sharing platform that allows you to book a car which suits your needs by the hour, day or week, all through a mobile application on your phone. A fleet of their cars will be available right here at Lot 10 for members of the public to use.
That’s not all! There’s always something new to inspire you to meet.play.#lovelot10!

Hey merrygoers,

Don't we all want to have glowing skin just like those Korean actors and actresses? How is it that they all age so gracefully and maintain that supple glow and radiance? I'm sure most of you know about the famous 10-step Korean Skincare Routine but how many of us can actually maintain that routine?

What if I told you there is a way to pack that 10-step routine into just three products? Althea Korea, my favourite Korean store has once again launched a series of products under their brand. Their first launch of the Althea Petal Velvet Powder was a success and is now one of my top recommended powders on par with the Innisfree No-Sebum Powder.

More details: Althea Petal Velvet Powder Review and Impression

Needless to say, I was excited when I heard news that Althea Korea will be launching the Althea Bare Essentials which has the secrets of the Korean Skincare Regime in just three products. I've been using their products for the past month and I must say I was impressed with the products. Now, let's dive into Althea Bare Essentials!

Althea Bare Essentials: Contour Cleanser (RM23/150g)

First up, every skincare routine needs to start with a good cleanser. The Contour Cleanser is packed with soothing Ice Plant and detoxifying Lemon Myrtle extracts. The Ice Plant is a native plant in South Africa which contains a lot of water for it to survive the dry weather. These ingredients hydrate and calms redness while strengthening the skin with Vitamin C and antioxidants. It also contains micro-capsules which gently exfoliates dead skin calls, leaving the skin feeling cool and refreshed!

The formulation is thick and you only need a small amount for it to foam up. Great to remove impurities after a long day at work while improving blood circulation which helps reduce bloating and gives you that V-shaped look. The Contour Cleanser aims to detox your face while prepping it for the next steps.

Althea Bare Essentials: Primer Water (RM43/200ml)

After the detox, it's time for the Bare Essentials Primer Water. Smooth, hydrating and with a thick balm-like consistency. One drop of the Primer Water goes a long way as it penetrates into the layers of skin to plump them up, prepping it and making it a smooth canvas just like how a primer works.

Formulated with Snow Lotus, one of the rarest and precious herbs in the world, it helps to smoothen and brighten the skin. This ingredient has been famous even in the Chinese Imperial Court for centuries because of its beauty properties. It is known to have brightening effect, fixing dark spots and superior anti-aging effects.  One thing special about the Bare Essentials Primer Water is the patented "dewdrop" formulation. This is a special technology that helps revitalize skin, providing immediate and effective moisture.

Just put a small amount and apply it evenly onto face. Gently pat it in for better absorption. I personally use a cotton pad for this and place it on my face for 30 seconds which it acts like a mask at night.

Althea Bare Essentials: Fixer Cream (RM50/50g)

The final step for your skincare routine is to lock all the moisture with the Fixer Cream. The Bare Essential Fixer Cream has powerful moisturizing properties which provides the skin with hydration for up to 24 hours. The cream has Trehalose, Wild Green Tea and Baobab Tree Extract which helps to constantly hydrate and soothe the skin.

Why I love this Fixer Cream? Because it is water based and it does not make me break out and look like a frying pan at the end of the day. The cream gets absorbed well into my skin and preps my skin before I put on my makeup etc.

You can purchase all products at RM116! For a complete skincare regime, this price is really very affordable. Enjoy additional 20% off your first purchase when you SIGN UP HERE

Hello merry goers!

After  much  anticipation,  Plane  In  The  City,  Malaysia’s  first  aircraft  dining  experience was  officially  launched at  SKYLAND, Bukit  Bintang. The  historical  moment  was  officiated  by  YBhg.  Dato'  Yean  Yoke  Heng, Deputy  Secretary  General(Management) of  Ministry  of  Tourism  and  Culture  Malaysia, witnessed  by  Arvin  Randahwa,  Chief  Executive  Officer  of TwoSpicy Entertainment  Live  Sdn.  Bhd  and  Dato’ Koh  Yaw  Hui,  Chief  Executive  Officer  of  Great  Eastern  Malaysia,  the  event’s  main  sponsor.

Located  in  the  heart  of  the  city  at  Jalan  Bukit  Bintang,  you cannot  miss  the  aircraft  while  driving  past,  as  it  stands  out  against  the  city’s  many  skyscrapers.  Aiming to offer an interactive and memorable experience to both locals and tourist to treat their loved ones, friends or clients, the Plane In The City will definitely be the talk of the town for quite some time.

I will be doing a more in-dept review and dining experience on The Plane In The City but here's a short preview of what it has to offer.

The  private  and  exciting  launch  event  was  graced  by  about  150  guests,  celebrities  and  members  of  the  media  from  diverse  backgrounds  like actress Sherry Ibrahim,  Amber  Chia,  Jane  Teoh, the  reigning  Miss  Malaysia  Universe,  national  gymnast  Farah  Ann  and  many  more. Kicking  off  at  5PM,  all the guests  and  members  of  the  media were  ‘checked-in’  at  the  event’s  Arrival  Terminal and  allowed  private  tours  of  the  customized  aircraft.  We also had the chance to take a look at the amazing three-course fine dining dishes prepared by Chef  Antoine  Rodriguez,  Executive  Chef  of  Le  Meridien  Kuala  Lumpur.

First of its kind in Malaysia, Plane In The City is also listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the 1st Aeroplane Restaurant in Malaysia. Endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, this 90-minutes experience revolves around an actual Boeing  737  aircraft,  during  when  its  ‘passengers’will  get  a  chance-of-a-lifetime  to  do  things  such  as  taking  a  ‘selfie’  while  sticking  their  heads  out  of  the  Pilot’s  cockpit,  walking  on  the  wings  of  the  aircraft,  enjoying  a  fine-dining  meal  serenaded  by  today’s  hit  music  and  many  more.

Each session is able to seat only 20 people to maintain exclusivity and the food served aboard the aircraft differs from 3 course or 4 course meals depending on the package chosen. All the dishes are prepared by Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur, one of Malaysia's top five-star hotel and is specially prepared to deliver an exciting and great-tasting experience.

For those of you who are curious, the Boeing 737 makeover was done by AkzoNobel - the world's leading paints and coatings company and producer of Dulux. Over 300 liters of aerospace paints were used for this exclusive project. Dulux had also sponsored the paint for the walls running along the iconic Jalan Bukit Bintang which has now been transformed into mesmerising murals featuring the skyline of Kuala Lumpur. Meanwhile, the light fittings used around the aircraft are actual taxiway lights used globally across airports around the world, courtesy of ADB Safegate.
