Hey
my dear merry-goers. My apologies about the long disappearance. Have been
pretty busy with work and really sorry about leaving my blog unattended.
Anyway, I was invited to attend the launch of the 14th Malaysia International
Gourmet Festival (MIGF) but unfortunately I was unable to attend the launch and
the Gala Dinner due to being outstation because of work.
SO!
The 14th Malaysia International Gourmet Festival was made official in a
Media Launch at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall on Friday, 12th September
2014.
Taste MIGF – The Preview
Event for the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival
Taste MIGF took place from 26th to 28th of September 2014 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention
Centre. and from 11am to 10pm
on Saturday, 27th and Sunday, 28th September, food lovers can partake in a Super Gourmet Safari in one spectacular and specially
created location – The Theatre
of Cuisines. Here they can buy Gourmet Dollars to exchange for bite sized
samples from the Festival restaurants.
The theme this year was "Red Hot Chefs" and the month long food
extravaganza has become a culinary milestone on the Malaysian calendar
proffering specially created Festival Menus abounding with creativity and
overflowing with flavour. At no other time in the year is the gastronomic
landscape of the country so alive with innovation as Festival restaurants try
to outdo each other in friendly competition, raising the standards in doing so
year on year.
Held over the weekend of the 27th and the 28th of September in the Sunway Convention
Centre, there was an endless stream of things to see, smell, taste and touch
for the average food-lover at the Festival. Food-tasting, cooking classes, wine
appreciation, gourmet shopping – the list was endless.
A typical journey began with the redemption of Gourmet
Dollars (the currency used for the tasting portions) from the registration
counters with an average value of RM50 per booklet.
Once you had collected your MIGF bag and wristband,
you would then be granted access into the awe-inspiring Theatre of Cuisines,
with booths by the 28 participating restaurants encircling the area.
I super regret being unable to attend the Taste MIGF
this year as I missed tasting all the tasty and great tasting food from all the
participating restaurants. There were tons of workshops and cooking classes
available during that weekend as well even from our very own dear Chef
Wan!
The Epic Gourmet Village was also a blast to all
visitors. Fine food products, fresh
seafood, gourmet meats and cheeses, premium coffees and teas, the newest
technological appliances, excellent wines, inventive cocktails, even a booth by
famed culinary institute Le Cordon Bleu – almost everyone left the hall laden
with goodies of all sorts to take home.
The 11th Malaysia International Gourmet Festival
(MIGF) is still on until the end of this month. For more information, do check
out their website at http://www.migf.com/ to know more about participating
restaurants and offers!
