If you've not heard of burnt cheesecakes, you must have been living under a rock or well perhaps you've turned into a hermit during the long extended lockdown at home. With the pandemic lasting longer than we expected, a sudden craze of local bakers and patisserie started popping up especially with a delectable dessert which actually started off as a mistake. Yes, I am referring to Basque Burnt Cheesecake which came about in the Basque Country in the kitchen at San Sebastian. Cheesecake addicts rejoice as a fool-proof cheesecake recipe has appeared where we no longer worry about cracked surfaces or burning your cheesecakes - because this cheesecake is best enjoyed with that charred burnt top!
With so many options to choose from, I was delighted with Maison Hei's burnt cheesecake which I must say it's by far one of the best in Klang Valley! Feeling a little extra, I opted for the MIE Matcha Burnt Cheesecake which was HEAVENLY and even now I'm craving for another bite of it.
If you've forgotten the feeling of falling in love, you'll fall in love all over again with Maison Hei. Simple yet premium packaging with a royal navy blue ribbon, I should have realized that it was just the beginning. From the first impression to the end, it was heaven on a cake. Don't underestimate the size of this cake because it is one of the heaviest cakes of its size. Never have I tasted anything so rich, so decadent, so luxurious and so satisfying.
I could die with no regrets after tasting their Uji Matcha Burnt Cheesecake. If you are a real matcha lover, this would be right up your alley. It would satisfy all your matcha cravings! In one sentence Malaysian style... "It's damn kaw!" The first bite literally just punches you in the face in a good way. Premium matcha nuttiness and umami which any real matcha lover would appreciate. And oh can you just see how smooth and creamy the texture is. It just melts in my mouth that I was even expecting it to melt on the plate! That was how smooth it was.
