Samsung A53 Unboxing and First Impressions

Hi merry goers!

As much as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Series has taken the world by storm, let's not neglect Samsung's mid-range lineup the A Series as they recently released the A33, A53 and A73 which was unveiled at Samsung A Event last 16 March. For those of you who are looking for a more budget-friendly option, you may want to consider this series. Special thanks to Samsung Malaysia for sending over the A53 for me to review and share with you my thoughts on it.

Unboxing Samsung Galaxy A53

Fresh out of the box, you have:

  • Samsung Galaxy A53 5G
  • USB-C to USB-C cable
  • SIM ejector

Yes, as you may have notied. Just like the S series or Z series, the A series no longer comes with the charger or TPU case. You do get a USB-C to C cable which you would need to get a USB-C Adapter to make full use of the fast charge capabilities.

Design

Upon first impression, the Samsung Galaxy A 53 5G is quite lightweight with a matte finish back giving it a premium look. I managed to get my hands on the Awesome Blue unit and oh boy it is pretty! I love how it nicely fits into the palm of my hands and sure feels so weird, especially when compared with my S22 Ultra.

You will find the power button and volume rocker on the right while there's the SIM card slot, the charging port, and a speaker grille at the bottom. Do note that, the A52 does not have a headphone jack so you'll need an adapter for your wired headphones or get a pair of TWS earbuds.

Display & System

Turn it on and you are welcomed with 6.5" Super AMOLED screen comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution powered by Samsung's own Exynos 1280 chipset along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage which can be expanded with the help of a MicroSD Card.

Underneath its hood is a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. Out of the box, it runs One UI 4.1 based on Android 12.

Camera

Asides from that, you'll spot the quad-camera setup comes with a quad-camera module– main 64MP (f/1.8, OIS: Optical Image Stabilisation) + ultra-wide 12 MP (f/2.2) + 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor+ 5MP (f/2.4) macro with LED flash on the back. And, it houses a 32MP (f/2.2) front camera for selfies and video chatting.
