[UPDATED] teamLab, Resonating Microcosms - Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset at LaLaport BBCC

Hi merry goers!

Have you heard the latest news? teamLab, which has held large numbers of exhibitions worldwide, will exhibit its light artworks at LaLaport BBCC. Named “ teamLab: Resonating Microcosms,” visitors will be immersed in its transformation by the presence of people and the environment of nature.

You may have been to or seen pictures of teamLab's mesmerizing exhibitions that come to life with immersive digital technology such as the one in the National Museum of Singapore, ArtScience Museum, teamLab Borderless in Tokyo, Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, and more. Well, if you haven't, here's some good news because from 4 August to 30 November 2022, the art collective teamLab , “ teamLab: Resonating Microcosms “ will be held at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport BUKIT BINTANG CITY CENTRE or also known as LaLaport BBCC.

teamLab:  Resonating Microcosms - Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset

The Rooftop Garden, which features countless ovoids, is an art space that transforms through changes in the natural environment and the presence of people. Under the sun, the ovoids reflect the world around them. As the sun sets, the ovoids begin to shine by themselves.

When an ovoid is pushed by a person, blown by the wind, or hit by rain, it shines brightly and emits a sound tone as it rises back up on its own. The ovoids around it also respond one after another, resonating out the same sound tone and light color. The surrounding Resonating Trees also respond and change continuously.

teamLab is experimenting with the concept of color. The ovoids can change into a total of 57 newly - defined Liquified Light Colors. The space of the work is interactively transformed under the influence of the wind, rain, and the behavior of the people in the space, making the environment and the people a part of the work.

The exhibit opens from 10AM to 10PM, but it’s recommended to visit when night falls so you can see just how dazzlingly the ovoids shine in the dark. But if you’re visiting the exhibit in the morning, the ovoids just as impressively reflect their environment on their mirrored surface.

teamLab:  Resonating Trees

The trees shine brightly. The light of each tree is autonomous, slowly blinking. The light transmitted from “ Resonating Microcosms - Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset ” causes the trees’ lights to change color, and a tone specific to that color resonates. The light of a tree is transmitted to the surrounding trees one by one, as the sound is continuously emitted. When a light resonates from the trees in the distance, it signifies the presence of people. Perhaps people will become more aware of the existence of others in the same space.

Worth It?

Photo Tips:

Here's some tips to capture them at their best.
1. Go during low peak season, probably not with the early crowd unless you FOMO or kiasu. You can opt to go around 5pm - 8pm to see the ovoids during the day and night. Plus capturing some sunset shots doesn't sound so bad either.
2. Bring some external lights or tripod
3. Use a good camera or like me I love the photos taken using the Galaxy S22 Ultra #nightography at it's best. Use Nightmode or Long Exposure to capture more light. Make sure you freeze for at least 10seconds, expose the photo for around 1/8 seconds or below to blur people out
