The Bread Bar @ TTDI: Artisanal Bakery With Amazing Sourdough Bread, Pastries & More!

Hi merry goers!

It's time for another #MiriamEats and if you know me, I LOVEEE my carbs especially when it comes in the form of bread - sourdough bread to be exact. One of the latest artisanal bakeries in town that caught my eye is The Bread Bar located at Taman Tun Dr Ismail. With the raving reviews plus the number of gorgeous photos that have been flooding my Instagram feed, I knew that in time I would definitely check them out.

So on one fine day, I decided to have brunch at this place with a dear friend. The genius in me never expected the line to be so long! We had to wait in line for about an hour before we got a table for two. So by the time we got to our table, our tummies were very ready for food.

Note: If you decide to takeaway, you wouldn't have to wait in line.

Ordering takes place at the counter as you select from the array of baked goods, sourdough, croissants, focaccia, and the whole lot plus small plates, mains and sandwiches. Since I was having a hard time deciding which sourdough bread to try, I decided to go for their Sourdough Platter (RM14) which came with 6 pieces of their sourdough assortments toasted and served with salted butter.

You have the option to change it to truffle butter or kombu butter which I ultimately decided to change to Truffle Butter (+RM6) because, why not? No regrets about ordering this platter especially if you'd like to try all their sourdough selections before selecting your favorite to bring home.

Note Best as a sharing platter because it is quite a hearty platter.

I heard that the sourdough bread here is all hand-baked using only organic stone-milled flours and takes at least 3 days to make from start to finish to ensure maximum flavor. They definitely delivered with that moist chewy texture balanced with a uniform crisp crust not too thick or hard and oh boy that tangy notes in every bite! Delicious.

We also ordered the Corned Beef Sandwich (RM32) which was a generous portion thinly-sliced corned beef layered with aged cheddar cheese sandwiched between two buttered sourdough bread nicely toasted and paired with some tangy homemade pickles and whole-grain mustard. Definitely a must-try with the balance of flavors and textures.

Of course, knowing me how you can forget dessert or more carbs! This gorgeous pastry caught my eye when I saw it on the display - Pain au chocolat Almond frangipane, peanut butter and banana. I literally made a U-turn back to the counter to add this to my order because I couldn't get it off my mind. And yes it is #worththecalories and worth the HIIT workout later that evening! So buttery pastry and the pairing of peanut butter, chocolate, banana, and almond frangipane sounds like a mouthful but it was not overwhelming.

Pair it with coffee, and you have the best of both worlds. So was it #worthit? Well for queueing 1hr I might just be wiser to go during low peak time or probably takeaway 🤣 But I would definitely put this in my list of recommended artisanal bakeries serving decent sourdough bread in town.
