The Tapas Bar Experience at Interlude, TTDI

Time to get relax and unwind merry goers!

After a long day at work, stress can really get to you and sometimes it is difficult to find a nice place to just unwind and have a nice time with friends. Today I am going to share with you a cool place for you to hang out either it is with your colleagues or even with friends after work.

Have you heard of Tapas? Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers or snacks in the Spanish cuisine. They can be served cold like mixed olives and cheese or hot such as chopitos, which are battered, fried baby squid. Tapas Bars have been been becoming popular over in the West and of course have reached the Eastern region.

Did you know that there is a Tapas Bar right in the middle of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) which is just 5 minutes from One Utama? Thanks to Food Ink for organizing another delicious meeting at Interlude, TTDI which is a local Tapas Bar which serves really good tapas as well as drinks.

Well decorated with mirrors and comfy couch, the place is dimly lit with an al-fresco dining area as well. There are also a variety of drinks to choose from to unwind from a stressful day. Here are some of the dishes you can enjoy.

Enjoy their frothy Mushroom Soup (RM 19) which has a nice blend of mushrooms and is seasoned well. Warm up your tummy from a long day to prepare it for the incoming drinks and dishes.

Next start by picking on some Garlic Prawns served with Tomato Salsa (RM 20) which is a popular Spanish dish cooked with olive oil and served with bread. The prawns were really succulent and just nicely cooked with the tangy flavours of the tomato salsa really whetting your appetite.

For something a little heavier to share you have to order their Quattro Pork Pizza (RM 28) which has 4 different types of pork meat in it: Lap Cheong Sausage, Pork Bacon, Crispy Pork Belly and Chorizo. It was a unique experience for me to eat lap cheong in a pizza but surprisingly it tasted really nice.

Warning: Do not leave this dish unattended when eating with your friends because you may find it gone in minutes!

Although Interlude started out to be a tapas bar but to meet the demands of their patrons for heavier dishes, they have included some awesome meals in their menu. Now this is the best seafood pizza I have ever eaten! If you are looking to have your dinner make sure you order the Nantua of Spaghetti with a Selection of Seafood (RM30). This plate of pasta is bursting with flavours from the seafood especially the prawn. Just look at the glistening orange sauce! It is so concentrated with flavour that fills your mouth at the first bite. The seafood used were really fresh too and this is one of my most recommended pasta until now.

Here is the start of some porky dishes. First up, the crispy and well roasted Crispy Pork Belly with Kill Kenny Glaze (RM 20). This pork belly is roasted really well with the crispy skin and served resting on a bed of pickled julienne cabbage and Kill Kenny glaze. This was one of the popular dishes that day! Can you believe that I just took a bite and when I returned from taking photos of the other dishes they were all gone!

If you are looking for pork ribs, try their Grilled Pork Ribs with Guiness Barbecue Sauce 500gms (RM 38). The pork ribs were smothered in their own Guiness barbecue sauce and recommended with a pint of Guiness to wash it down. This slab of pork ribs is served with bacon mashed potato and citrus coleslaw. The pork ribs were not really up to my preference and I would prefer the ones I ate at Buns & Meat which were one of the best pork ribs I have tasted. However the Bacon Mashed Potato at Interlude is one of the best mashed potato I have ever tasted. Creamy and well mashed, the addition of some savoury bacon bits added the extra factor in making this one of the top mashed potatoes to invade my taste buds.

The star of Interlude is their famous 17-hour Slow Cooked Pork Belly (RM 36) where the pork belly is cooked using the Sous Vide method with sauce made with the freshest of herbs and served with a gribiche inspired sauce and grated egg white. You have to try this if you are in Interlude. This pork has been prepared and slow cooked for more than 17 hours and it is so tender and full of flavour it just packs a punch in your mouth. My tastebuds were so overpowered by the intense flavour that this dish brings. The sauce served with it was the right balance and paired well with the pork belly.

If you are still feeling hungry or need that additional carbs to help settle your tummy, try their cheesy Baked Penne Pasta with Braised Vegetables (RM22). This pasta dish is covered with mozarella and parmesan cheese making it a really filling dish.

Now I doubt you would be interested with desserts at a tapas bar but if you have a sudden craving for something sweet, ask them for the Caramel Trifle (RM 18) with Caramel ice cream, date syrup, chocolate biscottie and pomegranate molasses.or their Cheesecake of the day (RM 20). They have different flavours of cheesecake each day so make sure you ask them. I tried their Ferrero Rocher Koko Crunch Cheesecake that day and it was a unique flavour but unfortunately the Koko Crunch base was not as crunchy as I would prefer it.

Of course if you visit a bar you have to try their signature drink which are the Rainbow Shots. It was my first time watching it being made in front of my eyes and it was so cool how one mix could produce so many different colours in one go. According to the rest, the rainbow shot here tasted really good and was sweet. I tried one of the shots and it tasted really sweet. So if you are interested to try these beautiful shots, head on to Interlude.
