Say "Yes! Fruits" with MBG New Fruits Salad Bar

Time for some healthy eating merry goers!

I have been bombarding my Instagram with some breakfast ideas requested mostly by my sister and friends and while most of them are heavy with carbohydrates I have yet to share some healthier ideas for breakfast. Now thanks to MBG FruitShop, you no longer have to worry that you are not getting your portion of fruits and vegetables each day.

Do you know that you are supposed to have at least 2 to 3 serving of fruits and vegetables each day for a healthy diet? However, with so many other schedules each day and the lack of time plus I know how it is troublesome for some of us to actual peel and prepare fruits and vegetables we tend to to eat convenient food which do not have the healthy nutrients and vitamins that we need.

To help busy bees like us and to make sure everyone gets their healthy portion of fruits and vegetables, MBG FruitShop have now launched their New Fruit Salad Bar! Did you know that International Fruit Day falls on 1 July every year and it is also the same day where MBG FruitShop host their annual "Yes! Fruits" fruity festival. This festival aims to excite Malaysians to consume more fruits with carnical-like activities such as contests, culinary demos, educational nuggets at all MBG outlets from July 1 to August 31.

In addition to their Fruit Juice Bars, now the introduction of the new Fruit Salad Bars will help cater to those who needs a quick nutritional boost especially during this Holy Ramadhan month where the Malay community should find these salad bars a convenient and healthy break-fast avenue.

To kick off MBG's "Yes! Fruits" festival, MBG hosted a healthy fruit sald demo cum workshop for bloggers and the public with consultant dietitian Indra Balaratnam at MBG's Tropicana City Mall outlet recently.

According to Indra, the key to making a good salad would be adding a variety of
colourful fruit and vegetables which offer different antioxidants. “Dried fruit, nuts,
seeds, herbs and dressings make the salad flavourful, extra nutritious and can be a
meal replacement. Yogurt is also a good protein source high in calcium that make a
perfect dressing to fruit salads,” Indra advised.

She shared three different salad recipes which are easy and delicious to make before we tried to make our own version of our fruit salad. So I'm going to share with you merry goers the three recipes so that you can make it at home too!

SUNSHINE RAINBOW SALAD

This colourful rainbow salad is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants making it the best salad to improve your immunity system! Have this for breakfast and I am sure it will make a great start for the day.

COOL YOGURT SALAD

Ingredients:
Salad leaves, Cucumber, Pink Dragonfruit, Pears, Pineapple, Watermelon, Avocado, Nuts

1 cup Greek Yogurt, 2 Tablespoon White Vinegar, 1 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice, 1/8 teaspoon Ground Pepper, 2 Tablespoons Chives, 2 Tablespoons Parsley, Salt (To taste)

Method:
Mix the dressing in a separate bowl and refrigerate to use when needed. Assemble the salad ingredients in a large bowl and drizzle the desired yogurt dressing.

This cool yogurt dressing is perfect to cool you down for a light afternoon lunch. You know how sleepy and lethargic you feel in the afternoon especially after a heavy meal? Well, now with this salad you will be able to feel full but refreshed! The addition of avocado provides the healthy fats needed for our heart and the cooling watermelon keeps it light and fresh but providing us the needed amount of water.

SAVOURY SPICED GREEN APPLE AND MANGO SALAD

So we're done with breakfast and lunch salad let's get on to dinner salads! Here's a savoury salad that mimics the Thai Kerabu but with green apples instead. It is rather difficult to get green mangoes but green apples are abundantly available.

Ingredients:
Green Apple (Thinly sliced), ripe Mango, fresh Mint leaves, roasted Cashew Nuts

Dressing:
1/2 cup fresh Lime juice, 3 teaspoons Fish sauce, 3 teaspoons Brown Sugar, 6 Chilli

Method:
Mix the dressing ingredients and adjust the fish sauce and brown sugar to your liking. Gently tos in the salad ingredients.

You can pair this salad as one of your dishes with rice or even eat it on its own. Really tangy and refreshing to have this and it taste like the Thai salad as well. The ripe mango balances the tartness from the green apples and the roasted cashew nuts gave it some crunch.

Even if you are not creative in your salad recipes, now you can just buy your salads from MBG Fruit Salad Bar where they have a ton of different fruits and healthy toppings to choose from. They even have date syrup and date vinegar which is really good for your health. You can also purchase their additional toppings and dressings from their outlets so that you can make your very own salads at home.
